"Conlon Take Out Food"

This is a story about Michael at about age 10.
We were living is Astoria at the time. Michael was at my house for Sunday dinner. Being Sunday dinner it was, what else?, macaroni and meatballs.
Michael ate his fill of the ronnies (as he called them) and meatballs as he usually did....
My mother made extra to send home to Joey as he also loved my mom's sauce and meatballs. There mom did not cook macaroni as their dad did not like it at all....
So when it came time for Michael to go home, my mother gave him a large container with Joey's portion of the loot.
Days later, my mom was talking to her sister ( aunt Kate) and asked her if Joe enjoyed the macaroni...when my aunt asked him, he said, what macaroni ?.....
Upon a complete Columbo type investigation, it was discovered that on the way home, Michael ate the entire container of macaroni and meatballs....but in his defense, it was a long walk..6 big blocks and he had not eaten in over 1 hour....

So that was the first and last time anyone trusted Michael with a take out order..so be warned kids, don't sent papa for take out...

In defense of my father ... no one could ever pass up your mom's pasta ... to this day I would do anything to be able to enjoy her "ronnies" ... it was one of the best things about coming to visit Floral Park ... Aunt Liz was going to cook!!!!

The same could be said about the baked ziti ... or better known as "bazots" ... I grew up always wanting "bazots" from Uncle Mike and Aunt Liz!!!
