Paris and Nicole had nothing on them....
This picture was taken in Coney Island (you grand kids must look up Coney Island, come to think of it you will have to look up a lot of things that I mention...have Fun..) circa 1939-1940. The sisters were at the height of fashion, but why is aunt Kate looking at my mother and wondering, "Where did she dig up that dress"...notice the open toed shoes with the ankle straps...We know it had to be before Labor Day and after Memorial Day..due the fact they are both wearing White...( This one I will explain, growing up we were taught that no one wears white before or after the holidays I mentioned above..that was a cardinal rule...and the "Girls" aways adhered to it. )The reason they went to Coney Island was the subway fare was only a nickle and you could spend an entire day wearing your Sunday best. In a time when money was short and days were long, people made the most of a good situation, so our parents and your grandparents enjoyed life for a few pennies...try that today and let us know how you make out.....
